I believe India, Auroville, the Mother has been calling me since I took my first Nia Class in September 2009. The last few years were preparation for my making this journey and being here for the most incredible Nia Retreat and it have to be in incredible India. I first received my Brown Belt Symbol in January 2011, found out it was in August 2012 and the received the word “Shine” – then in January 2013 I travel to India and at the Mothers resting place I see the symbol on “Manipura”-day “Shine”!

But it was today (last day in the Retreat) that I started to begin to understand the meaning of it! During the singing of the mantra!

I am free and i am moving through shining as my free true self.

And the journey and understanding continues…

Memories of Auroville

A throng of taxi drivers behind barricades – welcome to India!

Will we find the one for us and our fellow traveler, Leslie?

Chic tea at roadside rendezvouses in the deal of night.

Villager’s chants signaling our destination draws near.

Arrival at Verite in darkness – crisscrossing the ground in search of a room.

At last we meet our United Nations of Nia-mites – from France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Canada, England and Bermuda, California, Rhode Island and Australia, and Texas, too – and, of course, Auroville.

The seven chakras – blending of colors, opening of hearts – each an individual but embarked on a common journey of discovery.

Dancing, dancing, dancing – smooth and slow, fast and sharp – joyful, playful, visionary – can this really be our last day?

Pondicherry – Sri Aurobindo’s Ashram, where the Mother pointed to a barren plain on a map and sight unseen declared The City of Dawn to be built.

Spices, silver, scarves and scandals – and Casa Blanca.

Cows, families on scooters, taxis, buses – all muscling for space along the narrow way.

Villagers welcoming us to cultural centers, sharing their traditions – food, dance, crafts – smiling faces of children. So much promise, so many challenges.

Gaia’s Garden and Kireet’s canyon tour.

Climbing etched rocks of MAHABS.

Baths with a bucket of water warmed by the sun.

Birds signing, sun shining, fresh and loving prepared food. New friends and abundant love.

Blessing-gratitude-brilliant colors-strong sense of community.

Good to cry, good to allow myself to cry. My heart is open to receive and transmit. I offer and accept purity and clarity. the practice is mine to take into my every moment. Big gratitude...

Eric Fromm is one of my favorite writers and 2 books that i especially loved are : the art of being and the art of living. But that was an intellectual experience. This Nia and the 7 chakra dance has taught me how to do it and turn my life into a dance of art.
